Validation Method Assignment Rules

GCCS requirements for the validation process

Each learning outcome must be assigned a validation method in accordance with its category. GCCS requires a clear and consistent distinction between methods used to verify theoretical understanding and methods used to verify practical performance or behavioural outcomes. In all cases, a minimum of two validation methods is applied — no single method may be used in isolation.

Theoretical understanding outcomes

Outcomes in this category must be assigned to the Theoretical test, as this method is the most appropriate for verifying theoretical understanding.

Practical and behavioural outcomes

Outcomes in these categories must be assigned to the second validation method — such as analysis, observation, or interview — because these methods are more suitable for verifying practical performance, applied actions, communication, decision-making, or behaviour in context.
